Country Chic: Touches for a Rustic Wedding
Looking for a fun, shabby chic theme for your outdoor wedding? Well, one
of the current most popular reception themes is the rustic wedding.
Barns are big, back yards are wonderful, and anything vintage is
fabulous.
Whether you are having your reception at a vineyard, golf course, or
your own backyard there are plenty of shabby-chic ideas that can make
your party green and fancy-free. Rustic weddings just need to be
centered on vintage, earth friendly, and outdoor based.
Instead of a flower woven arch, choose an Adirondack style arbor to say
your "I do's" under. The natural wood and sharp lines adds a warm, down
home feeling. Old milk pails and watering cans make good flower
containers to line your aisles. Old fashion wooden folding chairs also
add a quaint touch the ceremonies look and appeal.
Old milk bottles with fresh cut local flowers, bees wax candles, and
vintage, floral table cloths make a fun reception table. Need place
cards? How about a place card keepsake? Either commercial or handmade,
natural wood name signs can be hung on chairs to help guests find their
seats. A chalk board makes a fine seating chart, with a personal touch.
For an authentic, rustic feel mason jars also make appealing glasses for
guest beverages. Instead of having the signature drink served in
martini glasses; have them served from old fashioned iced tea dispensers
with pour spouts. Better yet, set up an old fashion lemonade stand for
guests to help themselves.
Need a rustic location for photographs? Long
Island has a vast amount of local vineyard, farms, and stables to choose
from. With prior permission, a barn or an old historic landmark makes
an exceptional background for your photo shoot.
