Once the wedding is all said and done, for most brides, next comes the fun part! Whether you're leaving straight from the reception or staying a night or two to catch your breath, nothing is more exciting than leaving on your honeymoon with your new spouse. Although you may just think of your honeymoon as a well deserved vacation after the long, strenuous planning of your wedding, but in reality your honeymoon is so much more! The honeymoon is a chance to get away from some official bonding time with your spouse, and it should be the trip of a lifetime!

When it comes to planning your honeymoon, there are a couple suggestions that our experts would like to share, to guide you on your way! First off, you should find yourself a friendly, knowledgeable travel agent. Just like with any other vendor, don't feel stuck booking with the first agent you meet. Meet a couple travel agents, and stick with the one you feel a connection with. Having an agent that can connect with you will help ensure that they truly comprehend what you're looking for in your trip.

Next, make sure to start planning and nailing down all the details that you can as soon as possible. Once you have decided you want to go to a certain location, or that you decide for sure you want certain activities or amenities, book as much as you can right away. Even if you're planning 18+ months in advance, the sooner you start booking your trip, the better the guarantee that all of your needs will be met.

When you are choosing your honeymoon location, there are a couple factors to keep in mind. The first obvious is going to be your budget. Just because you can reach a location within your budget doesn't mean it's the best idea for you. If you're working within limited means, that's what you're going to be thinking about your whole trip. If you decide on a location more within your means, it will give you a little wiggle room to be spontaneous and worry-free.

You also want to keep in mind how far you will need to travel to get to your destination. After the stress of wedding planning, then the stress of you big day, you may not want to have to sit through a 17 hour flight to get to a far, exotic location. The Caribbean offers many of the exotic amenities that you'd find in the far, Pacific islands without the exhausting extra travel time.

Lastly, when picking a location, be sure to keep your season in mind. You may want to go relax on your Caribbean honeymoon after your early September wedding, but the last thing you need is to get stuck in a hurricane in the middle of your honeymoon. Every location has an on and off season. Once you've picked your wedding date, make sure to do a little research on the locations you're choosing from to see which will have the best weather/season for you.
