COVID-19 Update

A Time to Solidify Commitments

Nothing is spared by the coronavirus, including weddings. In times like these, we realize how much we treasure our loved ones, and depend on our partners. Both emotionally and when it comes to financial and health concerns, it’s a good time to have a committed partner. There’s no reason to let this terrible illness suck all the joy from our lives. To the contrary, it seems to me like a wise time to formalize commitments, and a beautiful time to move from partnerships to marriages. As always, I would be happy to assist you in doing that. At the same time, I want to act with an abundance of caution and consideration for the safety of everyone involved.

Small Weddings

A small wedding ceremony can be just as beautiful, meaningful, and memorable as a large one! You could do something in a home, on the beach, or in a gazebo at a park. This could be with just the two of you and a few family members – or even with just two witnesses. Finally, if you don’t want to have a ceremony at this time, but you do want to be legally married, I can help. That is a very simple and economical option, and eliminates any “social distancing” concerns.

Retainers and Refunds

My contract states that the retainer is non-refundable, but if you book your wedding with me and have to cancel or postpone because of the coronavirus, I will happily credit you what you’ve paid towards a later wedding. I want you to be able make plans now with confidence. (Please just co-ordinate with me before you commit to your new date!)

Other Types of Ceremonies

I also officiate at vow renewals, baby dedications, funerals, graveside memorial ceremonies, celebration of life ceremonies, and pet memorial ceremonies. If possible, most of us will want to continue these kinds of important functions if at all possible. We just want to be realistic, safe, and wise. If you’re working on any of these kinds of events, or have questions about any of the above, please give me a call at (516) 242-3721, and we can talk.

Pastor Bill serves families in the Greater New York area including Long Island (Nassau County and Suffolk County), Queens, Brooklyn, New York City (Manhattan), and Westchester County. If you’re thinking of using a Judge for your wedding, or a Justice of the Peace – or if you’re thinking of going to city hall for your wedding – or perhaps you’re working on a last minute wedding plan – in any case, Pastor Bill would love to speak with you. Pastor Bill is also available for families that have suffered the loss of a loved one and are planning a funeral.
